Unforgettable Saturday

The month was July. Mike decides to find his old girlfriend Louise to know how his life was going. He really did not want a rapprochement, but he wanted to know what she was like, what she had done with her life, and whether, like him, she had overcome her ghosts.
Although he calls her girlfriend, we can not say that they actually have a boyfriend. She came from a very Catholic family that did not allow courtship with young people of any other religion. Mike did not know how strong this was in this family. They were both in love, but her fear began to grow when she saw that relationship would become serious. So, before she caused any more trouble, she thought it would be the least of her pains ... and in tears she did it to him. Half unbelievable, as in a modern world one still submits to concepts so retrograde and conservative.

But he did not find it in any social network, weird for that time where everyone is connected by the great network. He remembered that she had a sister, Kate, and went in search of her name on the nets - bingo! Found the person with the same name and whose sister also had the name of the ex-girlfriend. What a crazy thing! Two different families with two daughters with the same names !!! Because I do not believe in coincidences, I knew something was prepared for Mike.

When she opened her sister's facebook, there was another Louise, not the one Mike had met, not one she'd fallen in love with, but something linked her eyes like a mesmerizing look, like a magician who by making fantastic numbers captures the attentive gaze of the audience . He was there, completely hypnotized by her picture, his smile seemed to give him a good day, and for almost five minutes he could not move.

After a few hours, after going and returning to the computer several times to look at it, Mike decides to send an invitation, of these to be accepted as a friend in the social network. He pressed the button and his hand went very high, as if to say: Ready! Now there's no turning back, you're done!
It was not long before she accepted, their first contact was already a harbinger of what that relationship would become. Mike goes in the text box and says,
- Hi Louise, I added you because I feel like meeting you ... if I'm wrong, forgive me, I do not want to be inconvenient ...
To which she quickly responds:
- Do not worry, I also know you ... I also do not remember where ...

It seems that the attraction was reciprocal and soon began an almost endless conversation over the network. But there was a problem they did not expect - from a distance - Mike lived in Savannah, Giorgia, and Louise lived in North Carolina, 500 km away from Mike, which made the relationship very difficult because he worked just like her . But they could not wait to be together. Mike waited for the holidays to arrive, his would be in January, but Louise would still be working. They decided that Mike would travel by car to the city where she lived.

Then came the long awaited day. But first, I can not stop talking about Mike's eve. He dressed like a gentleman. Bought a basket of wicker, those for picnic, went to the market and filled her with goodies. Sweets, savory, cookies, cold cuts, and did not miss the bottle of wine accompanied by two beautiful bowls. Ready ... the basket was really beautiful with a towel and everything. The next day, Mike prepares his car, puts the basket inside. He had not forgotten the chocolate and a bracelet he wanted to put on Louise's arm. He well wanted it to be a ring, but thought a bracelet would be lighter and more suitable for a first date, even after almost six months of conversation. Still on the way she thought of the flowers, but decided to buy it in her town because it was summer, and she was afraid the flowers would fade into the car ... that would be a disaster for a romantic man like Mike.

She picked up her cell phone and texted her: Honey ... I'm leaving home. It's 7:00 in the morning, and I hope to see you soon. She responded cheerfully, but he knew she was very nervous, anxious and anxious for this meeting. For every town Mike Passed, he sent a message saying he was getting closer and closer. And Louise, for her part, had lost count of how many times she'd gone to the bathroom so nervous she was.

Just after lunch Mike came to North Carolina. She called Louise, her voice choking with anxiety. "Good dear, give me half an hour to get ready, I just got home from work. Mike went to a diner, lined his stomach and passed the time while she was ready. Half an hour later she went to the door of the condo where Louise lived. He still did not know her personally, every person who left, Mike was watching ... is it her? But after a few minutes she comes toward him. He seemed to be in slow motion. Her shapely legs, shaped by ballet, black hair, long, slightly fluttered by the wind that blew in North Carolina at that time, white, rounded eyes bringing with them a sweet and pure look. Mike got out of the car, dressed in a pretty black shirt, tight, long sleeves tucked into his fist, his collar and striped blue and white cuffs on the inside. He wore a very chic shoe, almost for the night, but his velvet blue tone with a leather detail said it could be worn by day. A pair of cream slacks set the model by day.

The two walk toward the other, with a smile on both faces. It was a few yards that looked like a mile. But nothing passed around them. Eyes staring at each other until they met ... their bodies touched, and he said in his deep, soft, deep voice: Pleasure !, followed by a long-awaited kiss for both of them.
Let's have lunch? Mike asked. Yes, I know a very nice restaurant on a small farm near here, Louise said. The place was everything Mike expected. The conversation flowed quietly, after all, it was six months of dialogue. When they arrived at the restaurant, the two could not eat anything so much frisson of having each other's presence after months of waiting.

When he finished, Mike looked at a distance and saw a grassy plain in front of a lake, did not waste time took Louise by the hand and said: Let's take a walk! He passed the car, opened the trunk, and took out the basket. Louise almost fell behind ... Mike, I can not believe you did that? I always dreamed of making a picnic. The boy smiles inside almost saying ... Touchè, I hit it!
He took Louise by the hand and basket in the other. They headed for the lawn. Mike opens the basket and hands the towel over to Louise, and together they lay it out on the floor. They begin to take things from within. Louise looks at Mike with a look of whoever thinks ... This man really exists? The bracelet Mike bought is taken from his pocket and placed on Louise's wrist. She loves it, says she's in love with bracelets and rings. Mike tells her that it would be a compromise bracelet, even though they would be connected and the bracelet would be emblem of that union.

They spent the rest of the afternoon in that surreal place and moment. Mike, in a mixture of a gentle but intrepid man (perhaps in a more current and feminine language ... Gentleman with footprint) asks Louise: Can we go one step further? She says yes. Then they collected their equipment without any haste, every minute was worth an hour, and as much as they wanted to be together alone, there was no hurry. It was a late afternoon with lots of love. They both loved each other. Their bodies were magnetized, eroticized, devoid of each other's curves. Mike seemed to know what Louise wanted, and vice versa. Many hours of passion drove the couple mad.

They were completely delivered, cheated, but happy and complete. Louise looks at Mike and says: My love, I need to go. Mike did not seem to know what those words meant. Louise would have visits from relatives that next Sunday. And in the car toward her house Louise apologizes for not receiving him there and asks if he would look for any hotel to stay the night. Mike says no, he would come home immediately thinking of every minute of that day.

Louise was worried that the distance was long, but she was out of action trying to convince him to land in a hotel, much less stay at her house. During the trip they talk to each other. It was cold, the dark night took over the beautiful Nuna Rock Road, road that linked North Carolina to Florida. The weather was so good that it did not force Mike to double his attention. In other times that road was place of accidents because of winter snow and summer rains. But not on that day. Everything was quiet, calm, so calm that Mike succumbed to physical fatigue. He slept behind the wheel. His car pulled off the road and flipped over several times.

Early on, Louise calls Mike because she had asked him to send a message as soon as he arrived, whatever time it was. But when she wakes up she does not see a message on her cell phone and calls him. On the first attempt the phone rings several times without anyone answering. Louise thinks he had passed out of fatigue on the trip. An hour later she calls again because her heart began to feel distressed, even with relatives at home she apologizes and takes a few feet away to call. The phone rings twice so a woman answers, her body freezes, and on the other side the person says,
- Hello! Who speaks?
Louise still does not know what to think, she asks another question:
- Is this Mike's?
The woman responds:
- Ma'am, the head nurse at the Columbia hospital is the speaker. Are you related to Mr. Michael?
Louise trembled, did not think twice:
- I'm his girlfriend.
- Madame, I'm sorry to inform you that unfortunately Mr. Michael Staten died of an automobile accident at 3:30 in the morning.

Louise can not stand the news and faints. Her father takes her in his arms and tries to wake her. Louise does not stop crying and feels as if something inside her has died. Those last hours had become unforgettable for Louise. That Saturday was the most unforgettable of his whole life.

It is not uncommon to see stories similar to those of Mike and Louise. Some can have the beginning equal to the different end, others with different start and the same end. The truth is that this story makes us think that at any moment we can lose a great love. Any moment we can miss a promising future full of dreams. What we need to learn is to value every second and every person as if they were the only and last in our lives.
